Thank you for checking out the steps suggested. Try this:
How to set a default graphics card - Nvidia or AMD
Open the Nvidia Control Panel. You can do this by right-clicking on the desktop or you can find the option within the notification area of the Taskbar.
Select Manage 3D Settings under 3D Settings
Click on the Program Settings tab and select the program you want to choose a graphics card for from the drop down list. In Program Settings, click the ADD button and browse the following location to select the GoPro Studio.exe application: "c:\program files (x86)\gopro\tools\"
Now select the 'preferred graphics processor' in the drop down list (you can see what the automatic option is listed as global setting). If you want to use the dedicated graphics card, select High-performance Nvidia processor.
Note: For ATI/AMD graphics cards the process varies. Open the control center in the same way as above. You may need to open graphics then PowerPlay and set plugged in and/or battery to maximize performance. You can also try going to graphics then 3D and move the slider to performance. Your computer may also have a switchable graphics tab where you can change the settings for individual programs.
This will ensure that the dedicated card is selected, and you get the best performance from GoPro Studio.
Here is a Video showing how to do this process:
Let us know how it goes.

It works. Thanks.
Mine is AMD so I have to download and install the AMD catalyst control centre and that work from there. The interface is different from the one shown in the youtube video but it works the same.

I have an AMD Radeon R5 graphics card in my HP laptop. I can't find the Catalyst Control Centre to download; I have the Radeon Settings software installed. I can make a custom profile for Quik (see images). I'm not sure what I should be changing, can you help?

Hey, I think I downloaded catalyst (beta driver) from here: https://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/latest-catalyst-windows-beta.aspx

For some reason, I cannot download that. It suggests I use the auto detect tool, which installed the Radeon Software. I found a help document which explains how to switch between the CPU and GPU, the option is missing in my version of Radeon Software, so I am beginning to think that this is not the answer for me.

If you have Radeon Settings installed, open it up, go to the "Gaming" tab and in the top right corner you will see a little folder icon with a "+", titled "add" Click this and then browse for the .exe file for the application you want i.e. Quik or GoPro Studio. Let me know how you get on.
