Quik for Windows 10 desktop Crashes on Launch

I am having probklems launching Quick on my laptop. The app launches for a split second then closes down. I have reinstalled the software which cures the issue for a day or so then it returns to crashing. My latop has an intel built in gpu so the ork around for selecting a gpu is not relevant here. Any help anyone can give would be appreciated.

Thank you for the reply and help. Removing this file seems to of fixed the issue for now.

 

C:\Users\<OldUserName>\AppData\Local\GoPro\goproapp.json

 

If anything changes I will update this thread.

Hi, the issue has returned today. I have tried removing the same file and it does not solve the problem. Any ides how to fix this? I have already tried reinstalling the software a few times and it makes no difference.

Thanks for reaching back, @niceoasis4822. By any chance, do you have multiple graphics card installed in your computer? Please follow the steps below in order to resolve the issue in this instance:

  • Right click the Quik desktop icon.
  • Hover over Run with graphics processor (Note: this option will only be visible if you are using a Windows computer with multiple graphics cards)
  • Select Integrated graphics

You may also try the following steps in addition to the suggestions above:

  1. Close Quik for desktop
  2. Open Windows Explorer by pressing Windows key + E
  3. Click the View tab at the top of this window and make sure the box next to "Show hidden files" is checked
  4. Navigate to C:\Users\<Your Username>\AppData\Local and delete the "GoPro" folder
  5. Restart Quik for desktop and see if the issue persists

Hi Ann, I am using an intel gpu and I just tried deleting the gopro folder in the app data folder and it did not work.

 

I reinstalled the app yesterday deleting the folder in the hiden folder and it worked until I reset my laptop.

Thanks for the update, @niceoasis4822. I find it strange that the issue is reoccurring. There could be something in the computer causing this to happen or preventing the software from launching.

When you said that you reset your laptop, are you referring to rebooting your computer? Or did you actually reset/reinstall the Windows OS in your computer?

After reboot, see if deleting the hidden folder again will help.

Otherwise, you may try creating a new admin account and then log into your new account and see if you can launch Quik for desktop successfully. If Quik for desktop launches successfully under your new admin account, then you'll need to locate and delete the goproapp.json file from the problematic account on your computer. Follow the next set of steps to do this.

  1. Navigate to C:\Users\<OldUserName>\AppData\Local\GoPro\goproapp.json
  2. Delete the goproapp.json file and relaunch Quik for desktop.
