Because I am a glutten for punishment I went to the site again , single clicked , doubble clicked , sang to it , and anything else that would get it to load . I did not see an ICON in the toolbar or any real reaction . By the way I used Windows Movie Maker and found that while you can edit the film from the camera , you will not be able to create a DVD, because of the format they use . There are various converters you can download but personally i dont trust them or whats embeded in them . On top of that you would still need to get your work over to those to get it to work . I did not do this .
It does seem however that if you load the clips on your computer first , and work from those it will save the movie . I tested a small clip , I assume I will have to completely re-do the project now or only be able to hook up my computer to view on the TV with the card inserted . Not practical .
Just thought I would let you all know if you give up as I did , and use Windows , this seems to be the process you need to follow to actually print a DVD . Loan the clips onto your computer first and edit from there.
Best of Luck

I feel everyone's pain with getting the GoPro desktop software to work. It's been a really big pain in the butt.
I don't mean to be disrespectful, but I just want to say it as it is. The current GoPro Desktop App is a great idea in theory and concept, but is poorly executed. The installation process is a nightmare. Most of us can't even get the software to load without some type of workaround. It really needs to be turn-key once it is installed. Now it seems that the compatibility for supported operating systems in thinning as well.
Even if you can get the software to run, the software is plagued with problems. Either the software is sluggish, or something causes it to crash. Even the most simple tasks, like cutting/trimming video is difficult and/or time consuming.
I don't have a super fast computer or anything. And I don't have a dinosaur... But trimming a 1 minute clip out of a 4 or 5 minute video is very resource intensive for some reason. And... I have a somewhat newish i5-4670k and 32GB of system memory.
I mostly use my GoPro 5 Black to record my autocross (car racing) runs with GPS data. From there, I can overlay the GPS information onto the videos. As Quik is sluggish, and at times unstable, I opted to use the paid version of RaceRender 3 to do the overlays. RaceRender's overlay isn't as visually appealing as Quik's overlays, but is suprisingly easy to use and is stable.
If you didn't need to overlay gps data, I think any of the other video editing software packages is probably adequate. It doesn't give you the versatility and advance functions as GoPro Studio, but it'll definitely be adequate for basic functions.

i had same problem its the way your computer is trying to display the app, nothing to do with your processor thats the dumbest thing ive heard but this is what i did to fix my problem
i went into quick properties>shortcut>run>maiximized (was set at normal now set to maximized)
plus i also went to properties>shortcut>advanced>always run as administrator (this i think can be turned off)
This worked for me as well. Try this first before countless re-installs, creating of various profiles, or trying to delete a goproapp.json which I could never figure out how to properly do.

How do you go to Quick Properties if it doesn't load to begin with?
THey are referring to the Windows properties that you get to by right clicking on the App icon, not the settings within the app itself.
Suprisingly, Quik started working for me all of the sudden.
One day, I launched on it on a whim just to see what would happen, and it opened!
Not sure what it was, but I'm guessing it was a Windows or driver compatibility issue that may have been fixed by an update.
I hadn't changed anything myself beyond trying the things mentioned previously in this thread.

I cannot get the Quick or Studio to run on any of my two computers. I have tried the work arounds descibed without success.
Is there any fix available?
Beyond the workarounds listed here, none that I know of.
And unfortunately, after suddenly starting to work, it's stopped working again for me after some driver updates.
It launches but now window is displayed (But I see it still in Task Manager).
