There is no action camera company, or really any camera company, that makes full fledged non-linear video editors. It doesn't make sense for them to put resources and money into developing software when there are actual video editing software companies producing much better programs.
DaVinci Resolve is in fact free and is in fact a professional video editor. GoPro didn't make Studio, they purchased it from another company and then made it free. Since Studio is long past it's prime and can't handle HEVC video, Studio was EOL.
GoPro is a camera company. Studio wasn't available only if you purchased a GoPro camera. Anyone could have downloaded and used it. It isn't and wasn't a part of the camera purchase.
Most people didn't use Studio and of those who did, many people had issues as it wasn't very stable. Heck, even GoPro didn't use Studio to make their videos (They use Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe After Effects, just in case you're wondering). The Quik desktop app isn't great, but it's a simple tool for making little video clips synced to music. The mobile app is much better.
Deciding not to upgrade to a much better camera than the cameras you have now is your choice, but blaming the availability of free software from GoPro is just silly. Perhaps GoPro will produce another video editor, and I won't be surprised if they do, but it's a waste of resources to do so.
Not only does GoPro have to hire the software engineers to develop a desktop editor for Windows and Mac, they also have to support it. That is very costly for something users can already get for free from other software vendors that specialize in video software.
You complain about cost from a company that hasn't made a profit in years. Studio was not only not helping them to make a profit, it was one of the reasons they were losing money. By EOL Studio, they were able to cut headcount and focus their resources on what they do best, make action cameras. This has led to the HERO7 Black which is an amazing camera and leaps and bounds better than any camera before it.
Get yourself a proper video editor and the HERO7 Black and you wont have to concern yourself with looking for an inferior action camera that might come with some crappy video editing software.
