Problems with GoPro Quik App for Windows Desktop
[ New ]Unable to login to the Quik App on my Windows Desktop. To whit, there is no response to my clicking the Sign-In link at all. Any thoughts?
As an aside I just looked at my profile page here on the website and it shows I only registered 3m ago???!!!! My recollection is that I registered over a year ago. So that's concerning also.
Let me know what can be done to square this away. Thank you.

Re: Problems with GoPro Quik App for Windows Desktop

Hi @fiache
I am really sorry for any troubles caused. We have this issue already raised to the team in charge.
Please see if the steps below will work on your end:
- Open Quik for desktop
- While on the login screen, select the "Help" tab above the Quik for desktop window
- Select "Restart with default settings"
- A modal will appear saying "Are you sure?". Click "Restart" once more.
- Quik for desktop will close and reopen. Quik for desktop will appear as if you installed it for the first time.
- Go to the login screen and input your credentials. You should then be able to login successfully.
If you are still experiencing the same, attempt to perform the below options:
- Close Quik for desktop while the "Authenticating" message is appearing
- Disconnect the computer/laptop from Wi-fi or remove ethernet cable if one is connected to ensure there is no connection to the internet
- Open the Task Manager on the computer(Ctrl + Shift + Esc) and look for "Quik.exe" under the background processes.
- Right-click "Quik.exe" and select "End Task"
- Keep the internet connection disconnected and launch Quik for desktop. Confirm that it properly opens, then re-enable Wi-fi.
Let us know how it goes.
Thanks!
Ej

Re: Problems with GoPro Quik App for Windows Desktop
[ New ]Hi there,
I am having a very similar problem. When I launch the GoPro Quik app on either laptop in my house I am prompted with the message "The app needs an internet connection to sign you in." My work laptop is newer and much quicker so I'd like to be abke to use that as it has i7 compared to i5 processing. Maybe there is some privacy setting blocking this that I am unaware of but I have tried restaring the app within the help settings and also just completly deleting the app and redownloading it again. Neither has seemed to work.
Do I need my camera on or plugged in for this to work? Just bought the new hero7 black so am clueless as to how this all works. Was able to edit a bit on my phone but is not the same.
Appreciate any help you may provide!
Thanks,
Zach

Re: Problems with GoPro Quik App for Windows Desktop
[ New ]Hello @zacharyj44,
Quik for desktop can be accessed even if there is no camera connected to your computer. When a camera is connected, Quik should automatically launch and provide you an option to import files. If you are able to login to your GopPro account through gopro.com/login successfully, try the steps below, in the proper order and see if you will be able to login to Quik:
- Restart Quik for desktop with default settings.
- Restart computer.
- Uninstall/reinstall Quik for desktop.
- Create new gopro.com user account and attempt to reproduce the issue.
- Create new user account on local computer and attempt to reproduce the issue.
Let us know how it works out. We would also like to know if the email address that you are using is associated to a GoPro Plus account.
Thanks,
Marius
