Please make sure your drivers are up to date.
You can also try using a different cable.

Drivers are updated and I just got myself a new EUR15.99 cable and it still does not work. When buying an expensive new camera such as Gopro I would expect things to work well............

Sorry to hear about that, @thijsvanwely. Are you able to see your files and does Quik for desktop allow you to import files by inserting the SD card directly to your desktop (through as SD card adapter perhaps)? It would be the best option to download your files to the computer at this time.
