I want to color correct raw Fusion files but Fusion Studio won't read the modified files

I noticed that when stitching in Fusion Studio, some dynamic range is lost even when using "flat" mode. I thought about color correcting before stitching, bringing down the highlights in the clips so that when it runs through Fusion Studio the highlights don't clip. However even though I tried to match the codec best I could (AVC codec with same bit rate), and recreate the folder structure as coming out of camera and duplicating the other metadata files, Fusion Studio still doesn't read the files. The only difference I can tell is that the raw clips are (according the Quicktime) using "GoPro AVC Encoder" format, whereas my new clips are just "AVC Coding" format.

Is there a way for me to export my clips using "GoPro AVC Encoder", either through downloading the codec for use with Adobe Premiere, or is there any other way I can color correct raw Fusion video before stitching it in Fusion Studio?

Thanks!

Hello @noblecave05624

See if the demonstration detailed in this article for stitching GoPro RAW photos on the GoPro Fusion Studio App will help with the task you have in mind. Let us know how it is.

Best regards,
Marius

Re: I want to color correct raw Fusion files but Fusion Studio won't read the modified files

Hi, if you're talking about video i found a solution. Not the h264 codec is the most important thing, it's the two metadata-tracks into the stream (of the front camera)

i use a app called "subler" (originally for adding suptitle-tracks to mp4) where i can replace only the video-content of the stream with a new (in my case denoised) and h264 encoded stream and leave the meta-data-tracks as they are.

BUT the worst thing is the color change in Fusion-Studio, which is not bypassable. So at the end for me, there is not lot of inprovent, because fusion studio kills the color with whatever setting you use.
