Hello Everyone!

We have tested this and did not encounter any issues with Catalina (HERO8 Black and HERO7 Black).

If connecting the camera via the cable, launch Quik, plug the camera then power it on.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks!
Ej

Unfortuntely quik does not play nicely with catalina and has gone backwards since last update.

Hi @spirypeak5277,

Have you tried using an SD card adapter and connect the card to your computer?

You might have to transfer them manually.

When I say manually you'll copy the file from your SD card then paste it to your Mac.

After that just reformat the SD card and reset your camera to factory settings.

take a sample phone/video then your camera should be recognized again.

My two new GoPro 8's don't work with GoPro Quik on my MacBook and unfortunately there is no support from GoPro.

GoPro customer support is getting worse and worse and they don't seem bothered because even if you have a new GoPro, you can only register a complaint between certain hours on certain days, which is laughable!

I'm wondering if the cameras are faulty because all this trouble started when I got the new Hero 8's and can't get the videos off them. This issue has also affected my GoPro Hero 7.

I'll probably return the faulty cameras.

Same problem.  Catalina 10.15.2.  I can see all of the files on my disk using the Mac Finder but when I power on my GoPro it shows nothing available to import. I also trying using an Adapter as well.  It's the Quik software that needs to be addressed.

My problem is that I can’t even see the files on Finder, so I’m unable to get the files from the GoPro’s thereby rendering them useless.
I’ve only just bought the cameras so I’ll be within the warranty period to return them.
Pointless having a camera that can’t do what I need it to do.

@boldcave63652 - GoPro files that are still on the camera's SD card are not going to be seen in Finder. To import the files to your computer, you'll need to use our Quik for Desktop app to import them first. Or, you can import the files directly from the SD card by putting the SD card into an SD card adapter and plugging that into a USB port on your computer.

Jeff

I'm currently using version 2.7.0.874 of Quik on my Macbook and it isn't allowing me to view any files on either of my three cameras.

Unfortunately I'm already on a snowboard and don't have an SD card reader.

However, I have found a work-around that doesn't rely on GoPro Quik software; to anyone using GoPro's and can't get access to the files - ditch Quik and use Image Capture on Macbook. At least you'll be able to save the files to a location of your choice and watch them back with Macbook QuikTime Player and edit them in iMovie.

If anyone found the Image Capture work-around useful, please let Jeff and GoPro know.

The more that people complain tol them that there is an issue, the more likely they'll actually update Quik.

Jeff,

Incorrect on both statements.

1. You can use Mac Finder to locate the files on the SD card. For sure.
2. The Quik app for Mac cannot see or import those same files regardless if the SD card is in an adapter or in the camera connected by USB.

If there is a procedure to once again make this possible — like reformatting the drive or getting a new card — then please advise. But without any other changes, I do believe the community has indicated that the latest version of Catalina is not supporting Quik. Perhaps it’s because Apple dropped support of 32-but apps? GoPro isn’t the only victim, but you still have to address it.

Quik is 64 bit has never worked well with catalina as we all know.

Now with lates update 10.15.2 is does not work.

Maybe its a privicy thing, however I did check and there are NO privicy settings in system preferences for quik other than to allow quik to access my own photo library.

Anyhow, SD card / Camera does not show any media when connected.

The only way to import files from camera is to use image capture (mac native app).

I am experiencing the same issue with Hero 5 Black. Quik Version 2.7.0.874 and Catalina 10.15.2. I can still import using SD card reader, but no suggested fixes work. Clearly an issue with Quik.

Have your lot at GoPro found a solution yet to GoPro Quik not working with GoPro Hero 7 or GoPro Hero 8 cameras?

Also we've found that the GPS Telemetry data isn't working either when we use your/GoPro recommended Image Capture or SD Card Reader file import method instead of using GoPro Quik.

MacOS Catalina 10.15.2

Is your GPS Telemetry data available after you've imported your files using Image Capture?
