Hero 6 Black: How to slow 1080p240 or 200 videos down to 30fps for slow motion video

I have bought a Hero 6 and have captured some 1080p200 video (I'm using PAL format so its 200 not 240fps). Now that I have it, all I want to do is slow the clip down so it is a slow motion clip at 30fps. That's it. This used to be really easy in GoPro studio but that software is no longer supported and can't import the HEVC codec that the highest fps videos on the Hero 6 are recorded in. Can anyone provide a method for me to do this using any app or software package? I can't believe that GoPro does not provide a piece of software that can do such a basic task, whats the point of recording 240 or 200 fps if you can't slow it down later?! Especially when GoPro studio used to do this!

I have tried using Quik but as far as I can tell it is not possible as the editing options are so limited. if anyone has figured out how to do this in Quik please let me know!

Re: Hero 6 Black: How to slow 1080p240 or 200 videos down to 30fps for slow motion video

First, try converting your files to h.264 with handbrake https://handbrake.fr/downloads.php
For info on using handbrake with GoPro HEVC read this https://gopro.com/help/articles/how_to/how-to-convert-gopro-hevc-videos-to-h-264-using-handbrake
I haven't tried it, but after conversion they might work in Studio.

Two free editors you can try are:
DaVinci Resolve (my recommendation) https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/davinciresolve/

VSDC video editor (GoPro recommended) http://www.videosoftdev.com/free-video-editor/download

Thanks very much for your solution.

I can confirm the h264 files work just fine in GoPro Studio after conversion and it is really easy to slow them down to super slow mo using Studio.

Interestingly GoPro support have since recommended DaVinci Resolve to me...

Awesome, glad to hear you got it working. Also glad to hear they are recommending Resolve. It is bar far the best free video editor (and some say professional for color grading).
