i have connected the Gopro Hero 8 black to my PC and following all the Gopro Quik prompts, it says connect device and wait for import button to pick up but the gopro hero 8 does say its connected but does not show up on my pc as well as quik app. i have abrand new gaming laptop as well as using all original coards.

One common step that a lot of people miss is to power the camera on once it's connected to the computer. If the camera is not powered on, it goes into a charging mode instead of a sync mode.

I'm having the exact same problem with mine. I cann't connectect it in my Windows PC but i tried to connect it to a Mac of a friend and everything worked out...So i think the problem is with the version of Quik for Windows.

I was doing the same thing however I read that GoPro Quick is not compatible with the Hero 8 as of the moment yet.
Go to this link and scroll towards the end. Read the caveats.
