wouldn't it be nice, when the user could choose the S3-Region where he resides?
This would speed up certain things like uploading and downloading.
I've read some of the Amazon S3-Doc and that should be possible, shouldn't it?
Region-Downloads would be easy (CRR), uploading should be more tricky, becouse the upload endpoint has to be a new source bucket for the region, i suppose. The uploads have to be moved to the us-west-2 bucket for CRR.
Some S3 links:

Speeding up upload is easier than i thought.
Here you go
You can test the speed comparison for the bucket 'gopro-media-uploads'
I've made and it states that uploads would be 32% faster for my eu-central-1 region
So GoPro, please enable that d a m n thing and update your apps to use

Keep in mind that this is an issue for all applications which uploads media to the cloud.
- GoPro App Mobile
- GoPro App Dekstop
- GoPro Firmare
But i guess, that the team knows that ;)

Just got a Gopro my self. and just tried upload some files to the freee space you got with gopro.
And its like super fu... slow.
Tgought it was something wrong with my 250/250 fiber connection, but that runs total ok.
And when i found this tread. Guess i´m not alone :(
It sure sucks like hell!!
Pointles to have it like this. uploeded 1Gb soon on one hour!!
