One of the most basic expectations when you develop software is that the software will initialize or start properly. I can't believe how much time I have wasted on dealing with the issues with GoPro Quik. The software has a lot of issues:
1. The software does not always start when camera is detected.
2. The software does not always start when you open it from Windows.
3. The software gets stuck on authenticating using either a direct email/PW or FB.
I am downloaded and installed the latest version thinking that would help, but the problems still persists. Not only that, when I re-installed following the instructions that I was sent to remove the gopro folders form the %appdata% folder, I lost all of my highlights and also any videos that I had rotated to the proper viewing rotation got removed.
I contacted customer service and they sent me the same instructions that I had read in other posts on this support hub.

I have a GoPro Hero 4 Silver.
I am running the software on Windows 10 with all the latest updates and my configuration matches all of the minimum specifications for the software.
Once upon a time, the software worked consistently, but something changed and ever since I started having problems, they have persisted. It has made the whole experience with GoPro very frustrating.
I could not recommend a GoPro to anyone based on this experience. Without reliably functioning software, the camera is basically useless to me.
I am thinking I will just have to do everything manually: copy software from camera, verify that the videos/pics are good, delete from the camera and then edit in other 3rd party software.

Gostaria de compartilhar da mesma frustação do nosso colega, pois usava as versões anteriores sem problemas e me deparei com todas as problemáticas.
Inclusive usando todas as possibilidades que estão publicadas neste forúm.

Have to agree with this. You're up to V7 of your camera, the software shouldn't be this useless. I can't import from the camera or a folder - both are definitely visible, I've followed all the instrructions to remedy and still nothing works. Very frustrating.
