Re: GoPro Max has no editing software for Windows

The required plugin for resolve is no longer available.

Yes, adobe is expensive and more complicated.

The 360 software requires you to go to 4k so you LOSE resolution.

They lured us in with great demo footage but never put a "SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS" in the product description.

If you want your footage to look like what they lured you in with, YOU MUST HAVE MAC.

It's bait and switch.  Pay for 5.6k, can only use 4k.

Re: GoPro Max has no editing software for Windows

This is outrageous. I'm feeling like an idiot trying to figure out how to view my videos on my PC and after a ton of searching around, I get to hear it's not PC compatible from your post? Shouldn't this be all over the place? I basically spent $500 on a camera I can't use! I might have just waited until they supported Windows because by the time they'll probably release it, there might be a Max II that has better specs! Sorry venting.
Your post is from November. Do you know of any updates? Thanks!

Re: GoPro Max has no editing software for Windows

This is beyond insane.
I just got the camera two weeks ago and shot some great skydiving video with my friends and I can't see it, edit it or share it with anyone. So ridiculous for a billion-dollar company not to have software for Windows. Blows my mind. So regretting it.

Re: GoPro Max has no editing software for Windows

Just bought a HERO 8 and a MAX with a bunch of mounts and what not. This is my first entry into the adventures of action cams. Thinking that if I go with GoPro, I'm pretty safe. I WAS SO WRONG! No support on the Windows 10 platform. You gotta be kidding me?

Re: GoPro Max has no editing software for Windows

DaVinci Resolve for the HERO8 and MAX. Edit/Reframe your 360 MAX videos on a mobile device. The quality will be the same (if not better) as reframing on a computer.  You can also use other free and paid desktop software.  Some other free options are:

VSDC on Windows- http://www.videosoftdev.com/free-video-editor/download.
DaVinci Resolve https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/davinciresolve

VideoProc https://www.videoproc.com/
HitFilmExpress https://hitfilm.com/express
ShotCut https://shotcut.org/download/
Lightworks http://www.lwks.com/
Avidemux http://avidemux.sourceforge.net/
Blender https://www.blender.org/download/
EZvid http://www.ezvid.com/download
VirtualDub http://www.virtualdub.org/
Fusion https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/fusion/motiongraphics
Lives http://lives-video.com/index.php?do=home

As far as reframing on the desktop, you can use Adobe Premiere Pro or even the software from Insta360 (And just FYI, Insta360 recommends using the GoPro FX plugins for their 360 cameras). Render in GoPro Max Exporter as 4K if you are going to use the Insta360 software. Most major camera companies (Sony, Canon, Fuji, Panasonic) don't offer free editing software for their cameras.  GoPro is working on GoPro Player for Windows and Beta testing has already started. Hopefully it will be deliverable soon.  Until then, there are many free and paid options available.  For MAX, the best option is to use a mobile device and the GoPro app.

Re: GoPro Max has no editing software for Windows

Davinci Resolve has a Free plugin (for which development has stopped and will not as of this moment be updated).
The plugin allows you to reframe 360 footage. But it only works well for static camera positions, as you need to define a seperate camera for each reframing. This is not a real option for eg. MTB, MX, RR and any other moving cameras. If GoPro where to make a plugin for Davinci Resolve, then I might see it as an option. It seems though, that GoPro are in bed with Apple and Adobe. The mobile version you speak of, is also way better on IOS devices, of which I own some, but use non.

Re: GoPro Max has no editing software for Windows

You don't need to define a separate camera angle for each reframing.  That's just an option that simplifies and speeds up reframing.  The plugin has the standard keyframe reframing, so it works fine for action sports.  I use it for surfing all the time.

Re: GoPro Max has no editing software for Windows

I´m in the same boat as you. Stuck with the MAX 360 camera and no editing possibilities because im a windows 10 user. I´m waiting for the GoPro Player for windows release like everybody else. And I have only been waiting for 3 weeks.

I would try and sell my GoPro MAX, but my conscience tell me not to. I would feel like a scammer if I sold it.

GoPro doesnt care about customers. I know that now.
