GoPro Hero 6 playback on laptop is choppy?

Hi I recorded my go pro footage in 4k 60fps and saved it to my laptop but when I play it back its very choppy??

I was wandering if it was my laptop but i have done some pretty heavy video editing on it and it seemed to work fine?

It plays back beautifully on go pro but when i try watch it on laptop its very choppy.(note i exported footage from sd card to laptop) I was thinking it may have been my micro sd adapter but I dont know? Could I please have a solution to this as I am going on holiday really soon and I need to film on gro pro!!! I also dont want to record in a lower resolution.

Laptop Specs are:

MacBook Pro (Retina, 15inch, Mid 2015),

2.2GHz Intel Core i7,

Memory 16GB 1600 MHz DDR3,

Graphics Inntel Iris Pro 1536MB

Re: GoPro Hero 6 playback on laptop is choppy?

Hello @rapiddusk22843

The video that you have recorded (in 4K 60 fps) uses HEVC file. HEVC is an advanced codec which allows you to record much higher quality footage with an even smaller compression than today's H.264 standard.  With these videos being a much higher quality, they also require newer computer hardware to properly playback the videos.

See this article explaining HEVC for more information. The minimum system requirements for playing HEVC are found here. If you have a non-HEVC device, you can play back the HEVC files y converting them first using Handbrake

Let us know how it works out.

Thanks,
Marius
