Hello @miser. Please go to the HERO9 Black camera's "Connection" menu and tap on "USB Connection". If it is currently set as "GoPro Connect", try changing this to "MTP" and you will be able to access your GoPro from your computer again.

While the "Authenticating" message is appearing, wait 15 seconds, then close Quik for desktop. Then turn off your Wi-Fi connection, then re-enable. (Connect your computer via Ethernet cable rather than Wi-fi if possible.) Now reopen Quik for desktop and see if you can log in. On some occasions, the program will open immediately.

You may also try the following steps in addition to the suggestions above:

  1. Close Quik for desktop
  2. Open Windows Explorer by pressing Windows key + E
  3. Click the View tab at the top of this window and make sure the box next to "Show hidden files" is checked
  4. Navigate to C:\Users\<Your Username>\AppData\Local and delete the "GoPro" folder
  5. Restart Quik for desktop and see if the issue persists

Additionally, you may attempt to reset the app by following these steps:

  1. Open Quik for desktop
  2. While on the login screen, select the "Help" tab above the Quik for desktop window
  3. Select "Restart with default settings"
  4. A modal will appear saying "Are you sure?". Click "Restart" once more.
  5. Quik for desktop will close and reopen. Quik for desktop will appear as if you installed it for the first time.
  6. Go to the login screen and input your credentials. You should then be able to login successfully.

I upgraded my Hero 8 camera firmware yesterday and then after shooting I couldnt connect to Quick on my mac. I have been looking for an update of Quick without success. Very frustrating of GOPRO to do this. USER FRIENDLY NOT.

Hello, @pjc500. If you have recently updated your HERO8 Black's firmware to v2.0, make sure that your camera is in MTP mode. To do this, go to Preferences, then Connections, then MTP. This should allow the transfer of media from the camera to your computer.

Hello, @miser. Yes, the Quik for desktop app should still be able to work. Which camera model do you have? How are you connecting the camera to your computer? If the process is stuck on authenticating, have a go at these troubleshooting steps.

Hi-

I've tried the troubleshooting steps.  It still doesn't seem to work.  In addition, when I open the program, the Hero 9 is not recognized by the computer or the program.  I have version 2.3.0.6256 of GoPro Quik.  On one computer (MacPro) my account is authorized, but the camera isn't recognized.  Both are running Catalina 10.15.6. On the other computer (MacBookPro) my account never opens and hangs on authorization after i enter my account information.  In neither of the computers is the camera recognized even though it is showing that it is connected via usb.
