Sorry, the mid 2011 iMac does not update to OS Mojave so stuck with High Sierra.

Bumping this. I'm on macos 10.14.2 on a macbook pro 2017 getting the same error. Quik will not launch it crashes immediately.

Thanks for letting us know.

Please try this:

  • Restart your computer.
  • Create a new admin account and verify if the other account is able to open Quik for desktop. 
  • Uninstall and reinstall Quik for desktop.

I sorted this out changing the name of the Plugin folder.

The plugin folder name on my mac is spelled as "PlugIns"

/Applications/GoPro Quik.app/Contents/PlugIns

The qs.conf instead:

/Applications/GoPro Quik.app/Contents/Resources

[Paths]
Plugins = Plugins
...

I believe that is is a bug in the application installer, so you can rename the folder to Plugins or you can change the qs.conf file with PlugIns.

I went for the first and everything works fine so far.
