Re: Fusion and Mac OS Big Sur

Has anyone tried manually stitching using After effects or similar?  This looks like it might work: Video Tutorial: How to Stitch 360 Footage in After Effects (premiumbeat.com).

I've tried it on a short video with reasonable results.  Would be good to know what the best settings are for fusion though (FOV, tilt, etc for each lens).

Also, I think part of GoPro's problem maybe the company that made the Fusion Studio and VR plugins for Premiere, Kolor, has gone out of business.  I'm guessing there's a different Mac based stitching solution for MAX footage.  No idea as I'm still using Fusion (albeit using a PC to render).

If anyone has successfully used a third party software, can I ask if you lost the stabilisation?  The short clip I did was pretty static.

Hello, I have contacted GoPro support about open sourcing the app.

If this is not successful, I will look into libraries to build a custom macOS Big Sur compatible app for this. Note though, if the first option is a no-go, the second option might take a couple months. I will keep you guys all updated on what happens, if there are any developers that might want to help, please feel free too!

I’ll tell you guys if and when development starts. But hopefully, the first option works out.

Thanks

Hopefully you’ll have better luck than me. I asked about open sourcing and all I heard were crickets. I’m willing to help if you go with your second option. Post the name of the repo and I’ll join.

Can GoPro please support their own products. Like we kinda need Fusion Studio to work or we cant use the cameras we bought.

Personally, as soon as I shoot with any GoPro i try to get my footage out of their proprietary nonsense because of situations like this.

GoPro!  When are you going to wake up and start providing support for your products.  an 18 month lifecycle is pure nonsense!

I cannot use the Fusion camera without the Fusion Studio software. The software is not working now for a long time. Please solve this or refund.

Wow, Just finding out what a horrible, stupid, ripoff GoPro is.  Have had since hero4 and let's face your gear has never been truely good, I can't even say adaquate, terrible interfaces, apps, and quality was really just aiite, it was never very good gear I stopped at Hero8 cause let's face it, it's really just overpriced toddler gear, that leverages its customers for it's marketing. People we speak our scrilla, and I  I am trashing all the gopro JUNK at my media studio, because you suck, and your cameras/apps are just overpriced POS's that honestly, have never worked well and just waste time in any workflow. I will make sure all companies I control will never use any of the garbage you sling, and that everyone we equip at all my Colorado rafting, outdoor adventure locations will much better cameras because they WILL NEVER BE gopro JUNK. I will let everyone I can that you are a deadbeat company that will screw them over.  I now know that,  your technologically, ethically and morally bankrupt scammers. I can't wait to see you go the way of all the others that do busines like you.

Thank you to both @royalflame55565 and @sharpcave47636 for posting links to the older version of Fusion Studio 1.2.  At the moment I’ve been able to get further along with stitching/exporting than 1.3 and 1.4 even on older MacOS versions.

The only difference I’ve done from others that have posted here is that I have all of my files in a single folder, both front and back files.  I’m running Big Sur 11.4 on a 2019 MBP i9.  Still takes time for the process but at least it’s working so far.

I had almost given up hope that I'd ever be able to work with this content again.

Re: Fusion and Mac OS Big Sur

It is extremely disappointing, but not at all surprising to find that GoPro have completely discontinued support for this product.  I have never had a good experience with the workflow for my Fusion, which has led to me only making very occasional use of the camera.  As an Android user, the mobile experience has always been terrible, with requirements to jump through hoops to get the camera paired, and then to have to repeat this process frequently.  And, as a user of relatively lightweight laptops (no GPU), the desktop software has also been a struggle.  But, now they have dropped support completely.

I'm fed up.  I really just want my money back (1000 Aussie dollars), so I can go and buy a product from a company that supports their products.

As my Fusion just died (endless reboots) i am out of this thread now. Nevertheless, as i also own a GoPro Max and an Insta 360 X2 now (with excellent Mac Support) i will maybe discontunue buying GoPro prroducts from now on.
