Thanks Ryan, some of the suggestions have worked well, and I appreciate your help.
I've better success with the time lapse.
The Fusion software is not crashing when rending, but it does stop rendering the video and then the render queue goes static. I'm only putting one item in the queue at a time.

Same issue here, as far as I can tell this is all typical go pro, no quality control and poor customer service. This is not a computer issue, I have tried this on 3 macs and 2 PC's and all with the latest drivers. The rendering will simply freeze at different points, but will never compete. Occasionally the iphone app will crash while trying to render that way. So far all this is good for is still images, and they can only be rendered via phone app, the computer app is far too buggy and poorly tested

Brand new computer specs:
Ryzen 7 1800x OC 3.8Ghz
32GB RAM 3200
Nvidia GTX 1080 8GB
Liquid Cooling (CPU never goes over 35C)
I left a video processing yesterday and it's 30 minutes, took 5 hours!
Everything is on SSD (Samsung 850 EVO), not merged files are in one SSD and the final result in another.
It was slow on the Fusion Studio 1.0, but with the new updated 1.1 it takes forever.

It really is bull**bleep**. I installed the GoPro Fusion Studio on three different machines because trying narrow the video window and change perspective eventually freezes the machine. Its apparent this has not been tested AT ALL. If it was tested it wasn't tested on a macpro, macbook pro or dell machines (windows 10, i7). I finally gave up trying to get access to my vacation video/photos. Funny thing though, Adobe Premiere seems to be able to pan around and get inside the videos as I need I just cant use the GoPro software for it. (Returned the Fusion camera before the return window closed because I got tired of being an unpaid QA Engineer for GoPro. Do yourselves a favor and buy a different product if you do not want to find yourself dead in the water everytime you start a project.)

With the newer versions of the software it's taking much less time. I also used a macbook pro and it takes ages, but that's a limitation of the hardware.
With my new machine I OC everything and getting way better times.

Glad to hear it is working for someone. What machine did you get? I have an iMac Pro and it cannot handle the fusion. It freezes during the rendering process and goes no where. Are you consistently getting it to work? If so, how are you doing this. It seems everyone has the same problem. Fusion Studio does not work. I want it to work. I want to be able to use this product. I just cant' if I cannot render the video. Is there any other program that we can use the fusion video but use a different program to do the rendering?

Ryzen 7 1800X OC to 3.8Ghz
I get it to work every single time now, still a little slow, I wish it could be faster, but the playback is much faster and I can see what I will cut and whatnot, but the time it takes to render is painful (still better than using the Macbook Pro that used to take 4-5x the time).

Same to me. I just bought a Gopro fusion today afternoon. I tested my GOpro and tried to render the clips i just took. I found my computer could not sucessfully process any of my clips. I used Iphonex via Gopro app to render the clips, the same problem appeared. I tried to use my Ipad pro to render the clips....finally the clips were sucessfully loaded. I iterally felt frustrated and irritated.
