Creating a clip removes GPS data

Hello,

It looks like when i create a clip using GoPro Quik from a video with GPS data, the new clip seems to be missing GPS data.

How to re-produce :

1) Load video from Hero7 into Quik. Click "Adjust Gauges". All options are there, and when I enable them - I can see the gauges with speed/distance/path, etc.

2) Create clip from this video. In my use case, I chopped the 2nd half of the video off as I didn't want it.

3) When I load the new clip into Quik and repeat the above i.e. click "adjust gauges", the tool tells me there is "NO GPS DATA".

The above would seem to indicate to me that when Quik saves the new video file, it strips out the GPS data. Is this correct ? Have I done something wrong ? Any ideas ?

Quik Desktop : Version 2.7.0.874

Camera : GoPro Hero 7 Black

Thanks,

Steve.

Re: Creating a clip removes GPS data

What you will need to do is open the GoPro app and select the clip you want to use.  When the clip is opened, select the GPS performance stickers and place the needed ones on your clip (you can resize them and place them where you need them in the app).  Then select trim to shorten/edit your clip.  Then you need to save your clip.

After that, you can then open your saved clip (with GPS overlays) in the Quik app and do further editing from there.

Re: Creating a clip removes GPS data

Hello @stevedbarnes. GPS gauges do not work with edited/trimmed videos in Quik for desktop. You can add gauges first, then trim the video and save if you do not intend to use the entire recording. You may also do it according to the steps detailed by @irishmanpdx
