Choppy in Quik

Recorded videos in 2.7k (4:3), 60fps on Hero7 Black. The videos play extremely well on my laptop in "movie and tv" app. However, when the videos are played in Quik, they are so choppy I can't watch them, and of course, unable to edit them. Laptop was purchased less than a month ago. Spec list requirements are met per https://gopro.com/help/articles/how_to/How-to-Correct-Choppy-or-Broken-Up-Playback.

 

Please advise if this a known issue and if there is a resolution in motion. Also, what do you suggest I do in the mean time. Please be detailed, I'm a total noob.
