Black screen in the first step and crashing when turning off GPS

Hi

I bought fresh Lenovo Ideapad Y700-15ISK which has Win10 and GeForce GTX 960M after downloading and installing any existing drivers for my laptop I installed GoPro Studio (latest version which includes GoPro App 1.3.0.2371) then I imported MP4 file from my GoPro 4 silver to hard disc and then to GPS. Now the thing is that when I want to play it in the first step I see only black screen and hear sound of the file. I have tried to run GPS with integrated and also with the dedicated graphics but without any positive result. I have also tried to run GPS in compatibility mode for Windows 8 and 7. Nothing have worked :( I would like to add that when I am closing GPS it crashes...

Re: Black screen in the first step and crashing when turning off GPS

Hi @quickpeak4088,

You may have a intergrated Intel card (520/530) that will probably need to be updated. Please refer to this thread for the manual setup for updating your Intel 520/530 graphics card.

Keep up posted on your results.

1. First, download this zip file link from the Intel website.
2. Open file, unzip it, extract to downloads folder
3. Open device manager
4. Click Display adapters
5. Double click on the particular card
6. Click on driver tab
7. Click Update driver
8.Browse my computer for driver software
9. Choose the bottom of the two position, “let me pick”
10. Click Have Disk
11. Click browse to download folder
12. Go into the folder of the extracted file
13. Go into the folder called graphics
14. Click on a single .inf file. If more than one, pick the top one
15. Click open
16. Click OK
17. Verify if the card is correct with the exact model (Intel 520/530)
18. Click next
19. At this point it should be currently installing
20. After installation, open a new project and import a single file and verify if you are able to see playback on Step 1 or convert your video into Step 2.

I see exactly the same behaviour, 6th gen i7 (Skylake), integrated 530 graphics, but using 970m for Studio. (Alienware 17R3).

Can drag and drop clips in Stage 1, see thumbnails, and can play, but only get audio and a black screen, or if switching back from Stage 2, see whatever is in the viewing area when switching back.

Apart from that, everything generally works OK.

I have the latest drivers for both Nvidia and Intel, as of a couple of days ago.

Thanks a lot for solution! It works! :) Also I realised that the name of my account was with special chatacters so it seemed that this was causing crashing problems with saving and closing GPS. Thanks!
