Just bought my go pro and Im having trouble viewing higher resolution videos through the quik desktop app. Videos skip around and eventually cause the app to crash altogether. Lower resolution videos play back fine even after guages added.
Its not an issue with the camera, viewing the videos through the quik app on my phone yield no issues (for reference its a moto z force). My second thought was my computer. However, the computer runs windows 10, has an I7-7500U core with 2.70Ghz 2.90Ghz processor, with 16.0 GB RAM and a 64bit operating system. Furthermore, if I open the files directly through windows media player, the videos work just fine. The only time videos skip is through the desktop quik app. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling with no luck.
While this issue is not a complete problem since I can run the videos directly through media player and still work, I cannot add the gauges through media player, which is dissappointing since I was really excited about using them with high resolution videos. Is there any fix for this?

Yeah ive already seen this article, and none of these are helpful.
Going down the list
1. Im not playing videos back from cameras SD.
2. Windows Media player is not the problem. As ive said running the vidoes directly through windows media player causes no skipping or issues, its only through the quik program that issues arise, hinting that its a bug in that program. Unless of course the quik program runs through whatever the default video program is...yet there are no settings in quik to adjust this if that were the case. That being said I have tried downloading VLC and it does not fix how videos played through quik skip.
3. ...Ive already listed computer stats above and it meets these requirements. Unless of course the fact that I am using a 2.9Ghz which is slightly below recomended is the issue...although if windows media player is working fine with these videos I cant see why quik wouldn't work as well unless the addition of the gauges and other gopro add ons is too much for the computer to handle, in which case I'll just have to do without those additions when using high res videos.
