So yesterday I recorded +1 hour of video. When I opened GoPro Quick, it started to import all the files. After 6 of 6 it said "done", however, only 1 12 minute video was imported. To make things worse, the files were nowhere to be found anymore on the memory card. I've bought some file recovery software, which found all the +2 GB mp4 files. I recovered those files to my hard drive, but when I try to play them, I see the time running, but the image is just black. What happened here?

Well, it looks like Quik auto deleted the files but I see no setting about deleting files whatsoever. Not in the preferences, nowehere.
I use a SanDisk expreme pro micro SD HC class 3.
Tried playing the files with VLC and QuickTime as well, imported them in GoPro studio... all black. No sound either.

When the camera is connected to the computer, or when the SD card is inserted to it, the option to check/uncheck the auto-delete files after import is accessed through the gear icon as shown in the picture shown in this article. You can uncheck the option so you can choose to delete the files later on.
If you have another available card, specially a recommended one, please try recording again and import via Quik. Let us know what you find out. Thanks!

Thank you for the clarification, @bartr76008. Have you been able to check if your Quik for desktop was set to auto-delete the files?
If the files are no longer seen on the SD card when viewed on your computer, there is a high chance that those were corrupted. Unfortunately, we do not have any preferred methods of data recovery as this may vary from SD card manufacturers of the preferred methods for recovering your data.
Since this is certainly not normal for files to suddenly go missing, we recommend to reach out to the SD card manufacturer to further troubleshoot the SD card. Thanks!
