Hero 7 black- video is poor quality on playback even straight from imac imovie, after importing. On youtube it's like watching an old 240 quality. The GoPro is set at 1080 60 f/p/s 16:9 ratio and protune off. I learned to switch off protune on my Hero 4 black as it improved video quality.
I expected much better from this £320 camera. It's worse than my old GoPro 4 black. MUCH WORSE!
Moving video is terrible quality but still video is good, which means it must be something to do with movement. Perhaps it's the hypersmooth stabilisation which causes it?
It's a bad deal when it's happening on an 'ACTION' camera!!

Sorry to hear about the trouble, @rob335. We'd like to know some details so we can help further. Are the videos grainy all throughout? Or only the portions where there is camera movement? Does lighting in the recording environment matter? Is the recorded footage grainy as well using other resolutions? If possible, will you be able to send us a sample video clip? You may upload it to YouTube, for example, and send us the link.
Which firmware is installed on the camera? If you have not updated to the latest one yet (v1.70), please do. The instructions for Manual Update below will guide you through the process:
- Go to the Update page and choose your HERO7 camera.
- Under "Other ways to update" at the base of the page, click "Update your camera manually."
- Enter your Serial Number and other requested information, click Next Step.
- Click "Download Update."
- Click "Click here to download firmware."
Make sure that the camera is fully charged, and that a recommended SD card is used in the camera. If the camera is already updated and you still observe the same issue, there are additional troubleshooting steps here that can be performed. Let us know how it goes.

Actually I've just realised that I often take video on my iPhone X and it plays back perfectly on my Mac so I think there must be another reason why the GoPro won't play video properly on my Mac because the iPhone takes video at the same resolution of 1080 and 60 frames per second.
Therefore my Mac must be able to process that resolution ( or bit rate or whatever it is ) so there must be another reason why the go pro camera isn't performing as it should.

It could be the case, @rob335 .So we would like to gather as much details as we can to isolate the issue. Let us know how it goes when you test the media with a different computer, or after you perform the recommended troubleshooting steps. We hope to hear back from you.
