shutterspeed and camera damage

[ New ]

I accidentally set up a bad shutterspeed and my movie in the sun came out like a white stain, I've heard that it's bad for the lens. Is that true? Could I have broken the equipment?

Only thing we can do is ruin the footage, maybe a engineer from gopro has that answer about the sun and camera. I a msure  others will say use a filter on the Sun, the Moon the water, even wind and fire.
