Unfortunately it might be an issue with the camera, then. If by any chance the camera is still within warranty– which seems doubtful given the age of that model– I'd reach out to Support. They may be able to help you out in some way even if it's out of warranty.
A work around would simply be to remove the battery whenever the camera isn't in use, though I know that can be inconvenient.
