"No Files To Import" message on Quik app despite the SD card being loaded with videos (Hero6)

Hi,

 

I am a GoPro Hero6 user and am having a problem with getting my videos and photos off of the GoPro and on to any other device, including two laptops and a Galaxy Note8 smartphone. In every case, the Hero6 fails to connect and transfer the media. This is extremely distressing as I have priceless videos and photos from my wedding on this camera which cannot be replaced. I can view the media on the camera so I am reasonably sure that it still exists in an uncorrupted format on the SD card.

 

Last week the Hero6 successfully trasnfered media from the camera onto my PC via the Quik app. I just plugged it into my PC using the GoPro USB-C cable, turned the GoPro on, got the "USB Connected" message on the camera, and Quik downloaded the new media instantly. Now, when I perform the same steps, Quik returns a message of "No Files to Import" even though the Hero6 SD card contains a huge volume of new media.

 

I tried following all steps described on this support page (except for using a standalone Micro SD card reader, which I don't currently own), and none of it resolved the issue: https://gopro.com/help/articles/Solutions_Troubleshooting/Camera-is-Not-Recognized-on-Quik-for-deskt...

 

Additionally, I am unable to sync my Galaxy Note8 with the GoPro via bluetooth, even though this too worked several times prior to last weekend. My phone says the GoPro is "busy".

 

Essentially the entire GoPro has bricked with respect to media transfer to external devices at the worst possible time (wedding videos). How can this happen? How do I resolve it? Please let me know if there is any other approach I can take to try to resolve this issue.

If you're having trouble connecting to the GoPro app, delete the camera on the app and delete/forget the bluetooth and wi-fi connections.  Reset the camera (under preferences) and then create a new connection.  When asked if the camera has been connected previously, say no.

 

As far as transferring to your computer, you can get an adapter cheaply.  Uninstall and download/reinstall Quik.  If that doesn't work, you should just get an adapter.  DO NOT format the card until after you have successfully transferred the files to your computer.
