I'm beginning to not like the Hero 5. Now there's an issue with one button record with an external mic. No audio is recorded. Works fine with the internal mic on one button record (although the audion sound is muffled). If the camera is powered on and I hit the record button the external mic works OK. Just did a Google search for this and seems this is a design flaw. Gopro, either fix this issue or autherize a refund of my money. I've been a faithful Gopro owner/user for many years starting with the first Hero. If the Gopro Hero 6 has this fixed I want an exchange.

If gopro releases the camera hero 6 I will be requesting a trade for free. well known issue rephrain from using the quick capture and use the on/off only
gopro can simply in firmware disable quikcaputre when the mic is in and its fixed

Hi, I am in the same boat, I have reverted my GoPro 5 Black to an older firmware version which fixes the issue (I have made a video on Youtube showing how to do that, search: Hippo-Drones). I really want to buy the 6 and the Fusion but unless the 1 touch record works with an external mic on the 6 I'll spend my money on a different brand. GoPro seems to not care, I really wish they did?

That doesn't fix the problem we have as motovloggers, we need the one touch record feature as it is dangerous to remove our hands from the bars for the time it takes to switch on the camera and then tap the record button. They need to fix the problem, not sort a work around! :-)

Apparently the one-touch worked for an earlier firmware version along with being able to use third party batteries. I think it's 1.55. The new updated version, 2.51, lock you into Gopro batteries and messed up the one-touch record. I'll try down revving to 1.55 and see how that works.

If you need info regarding installing older firmware you may find my how to video useful:

OK,I've just loaded what the Gopro 5 shows as firmware version 1.50. Don't know what updates I don't have now but the one touch record works, at least for 4 tests in a row. I don't have any Wasabi batteries so can't say about those working. Maybe someone can say what is lost in version 1.50 from version 2.51?
