My 11 yr old son got a GoPro hero5 black from santa for Christmas. We have been trying to set it up for the last 4 hours. No matter what we do, we can not get the camera status screen to show at all. The battery is charged and the camera will turn on, the screen says "hero5", but we can not get the staus screen to come up. We have downloaded the updates onto the SD card and installed the SD card, the camera went thru the motions of the update, blinking on and off, chirping, we even got the check screen in the end. We have downloaded the GoPro ap to the iPhone hoping to be able to pair the GoPro with the phone and get the status screen from there, NO SUCH LUCK. Of course the customer support lines are closed until tmrw and the "24 hour" chat lines are also CLOSED, so now I have an 11 yr old sad and frustrated because the only thing he asked for for Christmas seems to be broken before we even get it out of the box.

@tmarie2020 - What screen is the status screen? Is it the front screen and you're only seeing the HERO5 name, or is it the back screen that's not displaying? Either way, our Support team is available now and wil be glad to help get this resolved with you.
