Re: how do i download videos to my computer from my gopro hero 5

You have a few options.

First, you should download GoPro Quik for desktop https://shop.gopro.com/softwareandapp/quik-%7C-desktop/Quik-Desktop.html

Once it's loaded you can make an account and start the free trial of GoPro Plus (if you're in the USA - coming soon world wide).

Next, Plug your camera into your computers USB port using the included cable.

Wait for the red charging light to come on.

Open Quik (you don't have to do this but I find it speeds things up, but it will auto start)

Once Quik is open and done loading, press the side power (mode) button on the camera and it will go into USB mode.

The camera should appear on your Quik app.  Click the little cog and make your settings, auto upload when connected and automatically delete media after import (or something similar).

The nice part about doing it this way is your media will automatically get organized in Quik so you can easily make short movies and it will also check to make sure your camera is up to date.

An alternate way of uploading your videos is to use a USB reader or SD card adaptor and just plug it in and manually move your files over to the computer.  If you go this route, you will have to add the folder path in Quik so it can access your files.  DO NOT put the videos on any drive but C:

Re: how do i download videos to my computer from my gopro hero 5

What i  do is for the Windows laptop;

Plug cam in.  and allow to  recognize. it will ask you on win 10  where do you orwhat programs you want opened and dissappear if not paying attention.

Then I simply  transfer over to the HDD.

I do not use Quik or Studio as I rather do that myself

uSD card reader might be less convenient but is the fastest option in regards of transfer time
