hero8 date/time lost
[ New ]hi,
noticed last days.....
hero8 lost time/date.
I get video and photos with timestamp days ago.
let's say it is 10:10 AM
I power it off.
power on, time is 09:49
when I connect with iPhone automatically update the time/date at the correct one.
but as soon as I power off/on lose some minutes.
it is mine or a software bug?
thank you,
robert

Re: hero8 date/time lost
[ New ]made some tests.
actually the Gopro time/date remain at the moment you set it last time...like freezes at that moment.
(automatically set the correct time/date when connected to GoPro app)
once powered on starts ticking, and counts the time, but revert to the last set time after power off/on.
see here:
- set correctly the time/date.
- it is 00:35
- power off
- wait till 00:54 and power on
- h8 shows still 00:35
- let powered on for 3 minutes - shows 00:38
- powered off
- after minutes power on still 00:35 !!!!!!!
I repeated the test many times, the same result.
thank you,
robert

Re: hero8 date/time lost
[ New ]thank you @jefft .
I installed 1.20 firmware just to be sure is not a software issue.
the camera behaves the same in 1.20. 1.50.
I might live with, meaning I have to connect gopro app before a new video session.
even so, if I change the battery, the videos will be mixed.
but I'm afraid that something in the hardware is not ok, so I think is wiser next week to start the RMA
thank you,
robert

Re: hero8 date/time lost
[ New ]hi all,
back in business.
just received the new H8, is fine, no more data/time freeze.
first thing first - upgrade to 1.50.
I used RMA with the online retailer.
- send in 30 Dec
- 31 Dec received by them
- around 7-8 Jan they announced me the fault is confirmed and replacement is on his way.
- Friday 10 Jan shipped back the replacement.
- received today 13 Jan - was send with delivery Saturday option, so could have been Saturday but only today came.
total working day since they received the faulty unit from me 6 days (with the almost non-working day 3 Jan included).
not bad at all....yes, I know...to me looked like a century...
thank you,
robert
