hero 8 switches from time lapse to video while recording

I use this camera to record my trail runs, and while recording in time lapse settings, it keeps switching to video around the 3 1/2 min mark, It then switches back to time lapse sometime throughout the recording, making my files really long and not consistent. Anyone else having this issue or know how to fix it?

Re: hero 8 switches from time lapse to video while recording

Hello @loyalhike2731. This is an odd occurrence. Which time lapse settings are you using? Do you get any notification from the camera (like a beep perhaps) when the switch to regular recording happens?

We'd like to isolate the issue by making sure that your camera runs on the latest firmware. To do this, perform a manual update following the steps below:

  1. Go to the Update page and choose your HERO8 camera.
  2. Under "Other ways to update" at the base of the page, click "Update your camera manually."
  3. Enter your Serial Number and other requested information, click Next Step.
  4. Click "Download Update."
  5. Click "Click here to download firmware."
  6. Follow the steps on the screen for detailed instructions for your operating system.

Make sure that the camera battery is fully charged prior to the process, and that you use a formatted, recommended SD card in the camera. Not using a recommended card can cause performance issues. Since you may have recordings on your SD card, please save them first before doing a format. Let us know how it goes. Thanks!
