Re: hero 7 black - battery cover

[ New ]

I have had the same thing before - the battery door hinge is somehow a little bit bent the wrong way.

Hold the Gopro with the lens facing you , open the battery door and when all the way open the door should be at 90 degrees/perpendicular or ideally from what I have seen just past 90 degrees. Open the door fully open and with your thumb on the inside of the door and gently bend, just a touch, then check the fit, if needs to be bent a little bit more then do so and recheck the fit. Once you have sucessfully done that when the door is closed the edge nearest the hinge gets pulled flush or ideally just below flush due to the angle of the door relative to the hinge. When the door hinge is bent to before perpendicular that edge will naturally sit a little proud of the body. The operative word with the above technique is GENTLY BEND, if that seems beyond the scope of your DIY talents then perhaps best not to try it!

Those with just one edge lifting could try using some pliers to gently twist the hinge to correct the lifting edge.

Granted if you pick this issue up on a brand new out of the box Gopro it may be safer to just return it but if you only pick it up once on holiday or it's 2hnd then it's an easy fix.
