@royb242

How long have you been having these issues and what kind of SD card are you recording on?

Thanks,

Re: hero 3+ bad sensor?

First noticed video would be interspersed with purple/green/red interference with lines and noise in September.

Progressed to white screen, video with noise, lines, colors with clear video then noise etc.

I have a case active with the support team who asked for some video and still pics. They said it was an easy fix, just do the latest update!

Update performed as per the directions. Camera still not functioning and displays/records white screen, video with noise etc. as before the update.

SD card is a Sandisk Ultra 32 gb Micro SD HC1

How long have you been experiencing the issue? I would definitely get a recommended SD card

However, it could be an issue with the sensor depending on the footage. Do you have a link I could review to give you a better idea of the issue?

Thanks,

Re: hero 3+ bad sensor?

Hi Marc.

I use the camera with the touch back screen.

Video displayed without recording is usually a white screen to begin then when video displays, has lots of noise, horizontal lines, colored lines, a bit of good video then lines, white screen, etc.

If recording, playback is the same as what was being displayed on the touch back screen. I don't imagine the sd card would be influencing the dispay on the screen, especially when not recording.

I have done the firmware update twice now, as per the instructions with no improvement in display or recording.

I have removed the touch back screen and recorded to see if it was a connection problem between camera and the back, but results are the same.

Can you supply an email adress and I can send you a sample video?

Re: hero 3+ bad sensor?

Having the exact same issue with Hero 4 Silver.  Completed latest update, same issue.  After the unit is powered off for a while it works for about 5 min before the lines start and then just a white screen.  Interested to see what you find out.  And of course mine is 1 month out of warranty.

Re: hero 3+ bad sensor?

No real diagnosis by GoPro. it doesn't seem to be an uncommon problem so not sure why they can't tell me what's wrong. My guess is the sensor is malfunctioning or the sensor cable may not be firmly plugged into motherboard.

My camera is past warranty so have been advised I can send my camera back and get a 20% discount on a new unit. I have asked the support team if the camera can be repaired as I have a bit of money tied up in accessories that don't fit with the new 5 series. Ill share their reply when I get it.

The sensor/cable assembly is available from a few vendors online, as well as repair services by third parties so that may be an option as well.

I need to think a bit on this before I decide replace or repair.
