gopro7 not mounting in mac os catalina

does not detect the device at all. I tried disk utility to see if it would mount but failed to do so. I use Mac OS 10.15.2

Did you try another cable, or just inserting the SD card into your Mac??

thanks for the response. The answer is yes I did that and was able to upload images. The point is why is it not working as easily as before ie. why do I need to do that now?
