I was / am thinking of getting gopro plus. However when reading about it on the plus support page it does not mention an important fact that is shown on the signup page;
"3Applies only to purchases made on gopro.com"
Different information on different pages and a bit misleading. Does one get all the benefits of having plus irrelevant of whether the unit was purchased from your website or a retailer?

The GoPro Plus subscription service offers the most premium GoPro experience as listed on the plus support page. Additionally, with Plus, if you damage your GoPro, we'll exchange it – no questions asked, under GoPro Plus Damaged Camera Replacement. This doesn't only apply to camera purchases made at gopro.com.
The quoted "3 Applies only to purchases made on gopro.com" on the GoPro Plus signup page that you mentioned on you post is referring to the up to 50% discount on Mounts and Accessories at gopro.com.
Hopefully this clears up the confusion.
