Quik doesn't work with the GoPro Max, it's for the GoPro Hero 7 and earlier camera's.

When you turn on the camera, it usually takes a few moments for GPS signal to be acquired.  Once the signal is acquired, then you can start recording.  If you start recording before a signal is acquired there will be no GPS data stored in the recording.

To get GPS data information, use the GoPro app for mobile.

The Hero8 GPS data is not compatible with Quik for Windows or macOS. You can find some alternative software to edit your videos with telemetry gauges here: https://community.gopro.com/t5/GoPro-Telemetry-GPS-overlays/GoPro-Telemetry-Resources-software/gpm-p...

Or you can modify your files with this tool I created to make them compatible with Quik: https://youtu.be/nY4LfVFViT0

Strange things happen with the GPS coordinates.
I’ve noticed if you export a .360 movie from the player app to a 360 video (like mp4) all GPS info is removed!!
If you edit the move in the player app on iOS (Apple iPhone of iPad) and export the edited movie the GPS info is added!
I wanted to post a video for streetview, without the GPS info this is not possible. :(
I have found a way to export dat GPS data from the original .360 file and put that in a gps-file. But I don’t know a way to include this data in a .mp4 file after that.

As far as I know, the macOS Player allows to retain the GPS data when converting to mp4. You need to check that option. Is that not working?
