gopro is frozen, it won't turn off, take pictures/ videos, or charge [ New ]

While your title does give us a hint, we aren't certain which camera model you have, how long you've been experiencing this, and if you've attempted any proactive troubleshooting. Shoot us some details so we can help further!

My new session4 froze during use. The screan shows the camera is in movie mode, the battery is powered up and 3 files are on the sd card. I can't turn it off or change modes. it's warm to the touch so it's still "on." I've been using the push button for on-off in my truck. What now?

Hey @Anonymous, 

We're sorry to hear about the state of your HERO4 Session. Let's see if we can restore your camera to working order. 

While you may experience a hiccup here and there, your camera shouldn't experience freezing often. If you notice the freezing becoming more and more frequent, please let our amazing Support Team know.

Now, hold the shutter (red circle on top) button down for 11secs. This should reset your Session and free it from the frozen state it is in.

Try this and let us know how it worked out for you!

This solution was really unhelpful. It got my Gopro to unfreeze but totally wiped ALL THE MEDIA ON MY camera!! Media I hadn't even looked at yet.  Lost an entire hour of taking photos I needed for work. Not happy.

Oh no, I'm sorry to hear that! The steps provided have zero affect on the SD card and should not have deleted anything, period. 

In addition, the only way to delete all content on the card can only be done via the GoPro App. It is super strange this happened and may not be the resolution that caused it. What I would advise is to contact our Support Team for further assistance. They will walk you through additional steps to ensure your camera is in proper working order.

My camera mode button stopped working the other day and I couldnt do anything with the camera. I tried the shutter button reset as instructed by GoPro and problem solved! Phew thanks.

My Gopro Hero 5 Session just froze for no reason, and I tried holding the button with the red circle down for 11 seconds and nothing happened! I need help!
