I bought My Gopro Hero 7 4 days ago and i already know the issues that people complained about. Out of the box the camera run with 1.70 software version. I'm using Lexar High-Performance 633x MicroSDHC/MicroSDXC UHS-I V30.
I updated the camera manually as per the instructions and reset factory plus formatting the SD card just to avoid any problems in my tests.
first issue: The Gopro battery won't charge over 99% just stuck there. So i get into forums and figure out that i need to calibrate the battery by making 4 to 5 cycles. I did 3 cycles but still getting 99% and stopped. Unplug it and plug it and finally it reaches 100% but drains to 95% quickly (Voice control off, Wireless Off and every thing is off plus screen brightness at 12%).
Second Issue: Gopro get hot "burning around the lens" Wireless on get hot quickly without even recording Battery drain 9% without recording from 100% to 91 % with everything off and 12% brightness in 10 minutes. Stuck 91% for more than 5 minutes while its on and browsing through parameters. Took couple of photos an burst photos. Camera is not getting hot and still 91%. Start recording with 2.7k 60 fps hyper smooth on. Start getting hot around the lens just after 2 minutes of recording. (room temperatures 24 C). Getting hotter after 4 minutes. After 5 minutes of recording i stopped filming battery dropped to 85% with hot spots around the lens and the front screen. Shut it down and took the battery out and it's just worm no signs of overheating. Putted back the battery open the camera and guess what? The camera freeze for 20 second with black screen than just started. After opening several times the camera and delete all the footage and pictures battery is 81% . Turned wireless connection on and Start recording 2.7k 60fps hyper smooth on and wireless on battery was 79% when i start filming. After 26 minutes of recording the camera gets really hot but continues to record. With 79% it records 01h08 minutes before it runs out of juice and the camera was really hot.
I know with 79% battery the camera recorded 68 minutes which is more than expected by Gopro as Gopro claim 60 to 65 minutes of recording with 2.7K 60 FPS but my concerns is about the camera getting really hot and freeze sometimes.
So does that heat produced around the lenses (Could burn your hands if you hold for enough time) normal or that's an issue?
The battery drops from 100% to 90% or 89% in 3 minutes and then stabilize. (My battery is the Chinese version).
Does Gopro going to release any update soon for Hero 7.
Should I return it back and go with DJI Osmo? or should i Wait for further product from Gopro?
