The camera pairs with my iPhone flawlessly as this is done with wifi/Bluetooth. The issue with the iPad is using a hard wired connection with a USB-C cable. When this hard wired connection is made, iOS will launch the import files software built into iOS. When doing this with the Hero 6 this software crashes.
The appears to work fine with the GoPro Hero 5 and 7 but doesn’t work with the Hero 6.
Do you understand the process being described here as it feels like you are unsure?

Hi, any update on this issue? I’m experiencing exactly the same issue with both of my GoPro Hero 6 camera’s.
Connecting the USB-C cable crashes the native iOS photo app import function.
I read earlier in the topic that someone has opened a support ticket with GoPro support... is this ticket still open and under the attention of GoPro?
I am really looking forward to a fix or at least like to know that GoPro is seriously investigating this. It’s especially annoying because the Hero 5 and 7 seem to be having no issue’s.

Hi @bluedive02478, you are right about the willingness of GoPro support to take action. I also contacted GoPro Support and they were very polite but I didn’t have the feeling they are going to take action on this one. They told me to contact Apple and supply Apple with a crash report to further troubleshoot. Why doesn’t GoPro if they acknowledge an issue with one of their products?? I mean, I suppose the GoPro engineers/developers are better able/capable to work with Apple and get this solved by supplying a firmware update or have Apple fix this (which I consider to be a bug)...
They also asked me to do some tests starting with formatting the SD Card and then trying connecting the GoPro with different footage and settings to pinpoint if the crash happens with all files or only some with certain resolution and frame rate settings.
Again: I expect GoPro to figure this out.
By the way; you mention not having issues with your iPhone XS Max. But the XS Max uses lighting instead of USB-C so I guess you mean not having problems when connecting wireless or do you own and use a lightning to USB-C connection cable?
Maybe I should also buy such a cable. Also handy for quick charging my iPhone X or charching using the iPad Pro.
Okay, I hope a GoPro employee reads this and will put this under the attention of someone who can help us in getting this solved.
Thanks and fingers crossed.

I'm having the issue with the 2018 iPad Pro and the Hero 6. As soon as I connect it over USB it crashes the Photos app when it tries to view the media on the camera. Please fix.
Can I ask what SD card you are using? We are trying and experiencing the same crash, and the guy we spoke to via the online chat/help on the website saif the crashes may occur if you're not using a compatible SD card.

Update. GoPro isn’t going to do anything about it. The fact their older product doesn’t work with a new iPad does not concern them enough so I guess I have a GoPro 6 for sale and looking to get the dji Osmo pocket. I liked the GoPro 6 as it was my first step into GoPro but their non concern of this matter and unwillingness to have an engineer look into it frustrates me and my wallet. See attached email they sent me.
