I have two gopro hero 5s connected via hdmi to a capture card in my pc.
- They are both set to hdmi out: live.
- software on gopros are up to date
The idea is to capture video from these and use them as live feeds in obs or xsplit.
I can connect fine and see the live feeds via my smart phone. However, when it comes to the hdmi, I'm having some issues. It seems very random whether or not I see the feeds on my pc or not. I can connect fine one day and the next, I get nothing. The capture card in the pc is functioning as intended, and I have no issues with any other sources connecting to it. I've replaced the cabling from the pc to gopros and that has not resolved the issue.
Is there a separate software that I need on the pc?
Any suggestions would be welcome.

There is no app or software native to GoPro that could be used to live-stream via HERO5 using a computer. Some users have explored using third-party applications but I have not personally tried them. There is Periscope though but this supports live streaming from your GoPro camera using an iPhone. You can read more here: https://help.pscp.tv/customer/en/portal/articles/2287095-how-do-i-broadcast-using-a-gopro-
A member is also shared how to stream using Facebook, an iPhone and a HERO5 Black - https://community.gopro.com/t5/Cameras/GoPro-hero-5-be-faceobok-live-streaming-with-iPhone-by-wire/m... This is a user-shared experience, not officially from GoPro though.
Hope this helps.

Maybe live stream is the incorrect term. I'd just like a camera feed to go into my pc. A capture card + obs should be able to do the rest.
I just can't seem to get the feed to appear on the pc.

I replaced the hdmi cables for the 2nd time.
This time, I'm getting a "unsupported signal" rather than "no signal". Any ideas? I have the capture card set to take in 1080p 60fps and the camera is set for that too.

Some more updates on the situation:
When connecting to the cameras, I recently noticed that they show on the front display an icon that looks like a box with an arrow under it or even a monitor. Maybe it's entering a mode that I don't want it to?
I've also tried connecting 2 other capture devices and they are unable to take any input from it as well. I'm assuming it's an issue with the settings within the gopro because of this.
I swapped around NTSC and PAL, but that doesn't seem to fix it either.
I thought I was getting somewhere, but I'm out of ideas at this point.

Thank you for posting back @balancep88. Is the symbol that you are getting the same one as in the picture below? The symbol simply indicates that the camera is connected to a bigger display such as to an HDTV. The HERO5 Black camera is designed to work with bigger displays like an HDTV by being connected directly to it via microHDMI cable, if not using an adapter to display media directly from SD card. If this feature works, you may need to check with capture card settings, if any, that maybe causing the intermittent feed or display on the PC.
