It sounds like you're doing everything right but just in case, here's a video that best describes the Fusion Studio workflow and how to arrange folders:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TmMKzjPK3g8

Also, a 218 error usually indicates that files cannot be stitched, this can have several causes:

Missing files.  So if you recorded a timelapse and also had some video files on there, tried to delete the video (as you just needed the photo's) GoPro Fusion Studio will still try to stitch the (missing) video files, this results in a 218 error and the program will not skip the missing files.

Light level mismatch.  If the exposure on one side of the camera is too great, it will be unable to stitch the front and back files together.  So if you recorded a timelapse but one lens was pointed towards a dark area while the other was having the sun shine on it, the mismatching light levels are too great for the camera to deal with.

Corrupt files:  If the files are corrupt in any way, the data on the files cannot be read and therefore cannot be stitched.

My advice is to make sure you are using the latest version of GoPro Fusion Studio (1.4) as this does fix some 218 errors and can skip missing files (however if files are missing from a sequence, then your sequence will be unable to render).
