file repair repeatable occurring but only in loop mode hero7
[ New ]Trying to use Hero7 as dash cam. In loop mode, external power, 1080P -60FPS, 128 GB Samsung Extreme, after running 30 seconds to 5 minutes it goes into file repair mode. Change nothing but mode to video, 1080P 24FPS and runs for hours creating 11+ minute files. I don't believe it is a heat problem as error first showed within 30 seconds of power on/record start. I have never had this problem except in loop mode.

Re: file repair repeatable occurring but only in loop mode hero7
[ New ]@glennw66710, file repair (Bicycle and a plus sign, Bandage, "REPAIRING FILE" notification) can indicate that a file may have been corrupted during/prior filming or access of the SD card. While the icon is showing on the screen, press ANY BUTTON on the camera, and the camera will repair the file. While the camera is attempting to recover the file, the icon will blink repeatedly. Once completed, the camera’s screen will revert to the normal file counter display.
Here are some ways you can prevent file corruption in the future:
- Use a known-good SD card. Here’s a link to our SD Card Considerations article.
- Prior to recording new footage (and after saving any wanted previous footage), format the SD card using your HERO7 Black camera or a computer.
In addition to this, I suggest removing the battery if you will be using the camera for very long-term shooting (e.g. Timelapse) to prevent the camera from overheating – at some point, preventing potential damage to the battery as well. Other users have expressed similar suggestion when using external power source for continuous recording.
On a side note, without the battery installed, the camera will eventually turn off the moment that the external power stops.
Hopefully this helps.
