Let them know of the steps taken so far.
They should be able to raise the issue of not being able to create/save your nickname to the team in charge.

A recent change has been done to the GoPro Accounts system. This was to allow change in username/ nickname for GoPro Account users. Please check on your end and see if it works. You can do this by logging in to gopro.com/login . Let us know how it goes.
