bug report - HERO7 Black - whitebalance presets working incorrectly
[ New ]I found a bug in the GoPro HERO7 Black´s firmware.
When using Protune and flat color the whitebalance presets show abnormal color/contrast response after (!) the setting is applied. Especially red color becomes orange. The problem didn´t exist with the HERO6 Black.
Verify the bug as following:
- set the camera to 4K/50p (may also happen with other sizes/framerates).
- set the camera to Protune and color to "flat".
- have a red colored item prepared in daylight.
- place the Hero 7 Black so that the red item can be seen in the display.
- open the white balance dialog.
- choose a temperature from 5000K to 6000K for daylight, keep the WB dialog open.
- observe the red item in the display, it still looks red.
- apply the selected temperature value in the white balance dialog by tapping the kelvin number.
- the red item becomes orange in the display and the contrast also suffers a bit.
- do the same with a Hero 6 Black, there will be no problem, the item will stay red.
This bug doesn´t happen with whitebalance set to auto, there we get "correct" colors and contrast as long as the auto whitebalance find´s the correct value.
The bug also doesn´t happen in Protune with color set to "GoPro", but that´s to contrasty/colorful for most recordings in my eyes.
I made a short (unlisted) YT video here:

Hi @rong975
Thank you for sharing these information.
We'll have these reviewed and shared with the team in charge.
Have you tried doing a manual update? https://gopro.com/update/hero7-black
This step normally corrects any issues encountered with the previous installation.
Let us know how it goes.
Thanks!

Re: bug report - HERO7 Black - whitebalance presets working incorrectly
[ New ]no, as already reported to Emil (GoPro) the manual update didn‘t change anything, the problem is still the same as in my video.
You should easily be able to reproduce it like shown in the video here:
https://youtu.be/IEW_HsXJLio
The problem happens with 3 different GoPro HERO7 Black cameras but doesn‘t happen with my GoPro HERO6 Black.
It only happens in Protune/Flat color with manual WB, not in Protune/GoPro color and not with Auto WB.
I tested it in 4K/50p. Should be easy to verify.
Greetz,
Roland.

[ New ]
I replicated the issue here in my end @rong975,
Yes it's happening on German Version. I switched my phone and camera to german and was able to get the same issue.
We'll keep you posted as soon as we receive a response or fix from our dev.
Regards,
-Jay

Re: bug report - HERO7 Black - whitebalance presets working incorrectly
[ New ]this thread is about the Protune flat WB preset bug and is app independent since it also happens when the setting is done on the camera itself.
I even have set all my cameras to english language.
I guess you mixed up the threads here ;-).
