a few questions on the Hero Session

1. i see that it is waterproof to 33' but for how long?

2. is it shock proof? if so how far of a fall can it survive?

3. how long does the battery last?

thank you in advance for any answers

Re: a few questions on the Hero Session

These aren't official answers but based purely on my own experience.

1. I don't think there is a limit on how long the camera can stay submerged. Mine once spent the night in a pool about 10' deep and was fine.

2. Mine has been thrown across a gym by my six year old and once of a cliff about 40' high onto the beach below and still works fine. There is a YouTube video of guys putting the Session into the tip of an arrow and shooting it and it's often used for racing drones which crash a lot. So, all in all, it's say it's pretty shock resistance. You might crack the protective lens or dislodge the SD card with a hard impact. The lens is easy to replace and the door will keep you from losing the SD card which will go back in easily.

3. Do you mean in one continuous shot or for the life of the camera? You'll get about an hour-hour and a half continuous recording. Since most people don't record one long video, you can usually get a full day or more of recording. If you mean for the life of the camera, it's about 3-4 years before the battery performance will start to go down. Similar to a phone with an unremovable battery. Since phones are usually charged daily, you'll get much more life from the Session. Six to ten years, maybe more, before the camera battery dies completely. It depends on how often you use and charge the battery and under what conditions. Extreme cold and heat kill lithium batteries faster. In normal conditions the Session battery might last well beyond ten years.

Re: a few questions on the Hero Session

The blue light means the camera is emitting a WiFi signal. You should turn it off when not connected to the app or controller as it will significantly drain the battery. The Hero5 cameras have corrected this by switching to Bluetooth when not connected. Unfortunately the regular Session does not.

Re: a few questions on the Hero Session

Found a video of Session being dropped 1,000 feet. Granted, it's a Hero5 Session but the build design is basically the same.

DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME 👍😉

(But if you do, use a Karma 🤣)
