Why is my footage “unsupported”?

I have just purchased a Hero 6 and an Anker USB 3.0 Micro SD reader in order to view content on the TV via the USB port. I have tried watching on multiple tv’s, as well as an XBOX one. All methods show a message along the lines of “content is in an unsupported format”. Is there any reasoning for this? All recordings are 4K.

Hi @luckshen

HERO6 Black supports:

  • Playback of 4K videos from Media.
  • Output of the live preview in 4K, when idle (4k @ 30 FPS max)

HERO6 Black does not support:

  • 4K output on HDMI while recording. When recording the output will be at 720x480 @ 60 FPS

If you are using a USB card reader or USB drive, you may be able to play back in 4K resolution on a 4K TV.  This is dependent on whether or not you have a 4K TV capable of 4K Playback via USB card reader or USB drive.  Check with your TV manufacturer for details.
