Great answer @danielr15   Some people make that mistake quite often and good for you for explaining the difference in simple easy to understand terms.  Much better than just recommending a card and leaving someone thinking that their card incorrectly supports a bit/byte rate that it doesn't.  Think you should do a GoPro tips video and cover this topic, I'm sure it would prove pretty useful.

no UHS-I card supports 100MB/s...max I saw 90MB/s.

only UHS-II that have two rows of connections pins can go to 300MB/, UHS-III to 600MB/s etc.....

you will see a video stream with a speed of 100Mbps (if you set bit rate high in camera)

 

and you will say, ok this is 100Mbps= 12MB/s

byte=8bit as Daniel explained.

so what is 12MB/s ?!?!?! I need a double lets say, 25 MB/s card = cheap, few bucks.

cameras write in bursts and write not only one file. does not write sequential.

the video, sound, GPS data, etc, all that are "pushed" to the card in a fraction of 1/fps after a lot of processing (compression, stabilization, etc.), and on different files.

so actually that burst is equivalent to a maybe 80-90MB/s

therefore for video application, the sequential 90Mb/s tells nothing, a new classification was developed, called V.

you can see on your cards the V30 usually.

ofcourse are related.

for smartphones and tablets, there is a classification A, from Applications, and measure IOPS (input/ouput per seconds) rater then B/s

here we talk about random write/read speed

modern  cards will have all classifications : sequential (90MB/s) V30 A2...

here is mine, one of the best rated sequential speed over 80MB/s....
