Where to send a broken Hero 3+ Black to?

Hi everybody,

 

so i got a GoPro Hero 3+ Black as a present from my grandma a bit more than 2 years ago. Pretty much after the 24 month warranty mark, the LCD Display stopped working. 

I use my GoPro very casually, maybe once a month on average. But i got two battery packs, because if i do, i need more than 2h of filming. So, last month i turned the camera on, but the display didn't work (it did NOT break during usage, making the case so weird). I know its menu by heart, so tried to get into settings and take photos and analyze on my PC, whether the photos on the SD card were coming out. So, photos still good, and i can thoroughly use the GoPro through connecting it to my phone, i see a live image, take an image and change settings. Even with the camera resetted to factory settings and two firmware updates, it still didnt work So i think that only the LCD is broken.

 

Now two questions:

1. Do i have to pay for repair? As said, i use my GoPro extremely seldomly and have never used it for actionsport-photography. It has therefore never been under extreme load or temps (im in Germany) and neither does the LCD show any traces of damage or force-impact (no punctures, scratches, dead pixels etc). Is that a manufacture default, or did it deliberately break after the 24-month mark so that i get the Hero 5...?

2. Where do i send it to for repair?

Thank you for your help, i couldn't find any solutions on the website. (am i blind?)

 

PS: I always take out the battery pack after shooting since the GoPro draws way too much power in off-mode. Could that break it? But still, the sensor is not dead. On the other hand, it gets pretty warm even if i dont record in 4k or use Wi-Fi. Could the constant load over hours damage the LCD? Only once did it have to force-shutdown due to temperature, i did let it cool for 30 minutes in the shadow tho..

I feel that issues like this are best resolved with the help of a Support rep, as there are a lot of factors they will want to examine to determine where the issue is occurring.

I feel that issues like this are best resolved with the help of a Support rep, as there are a lot of factors they will want to examine to determine where the issue is occurring.
