What can I do with THM and LRV files?

I was organizing the folders I use to hold all my unedited GoPro footage and noticed that in one folder (lets call it folder2015), all my footage shows up as 3 files with different formats, LRV, MP4, and THM. In another folder (lets call it folder2016), there are only MP4 files. I know for a fact that I used Quik to import the footage that is showing up in the folder as MP4s only (folder2016), but I can't remember how I imported the footage that is showing 3 files each (folder2015); It may have been before I had Quik or GoPro studio and I put them on the harddrive by dragging and dropping rather than any kind of importation software. In order to free up space on my hardrive, can I delete the LRV and THM files without harming my ability to safely playback or edit the associated MP4? Or should I go back and import them from my GoPro through Quik instead?

The additional files are for mobile playback.  They are low resolution files and can be safely deleted without any effect on your .mp4 files.
